| DARWARS is transforming training and increasing readiness by harnessing the full power of lightweight experiential training. A DARPA-funded program for achieving training superiority, DARWARS is co-sponsored by DoD partners such as USJFCOM and USMC PM TRASYS. Today, low-cost, webcentric, simulation-based trainers can take advantage of widespread PC-based technology, including multi-player games, virtual worlds, intelligent agents, and online communities. The resulting systems offer immersive practice environments to individuals and teams, with on-target feedback for each trainee. And DARWARS provides new and advanced infrastructure and tools to develop and deliver proven and engaging distributed experiential training that dramatically increases readiness. Currently DARWARS is delivering both “off-the shelf” experiential training packages as well as comprehensive enterprise solutions that focus on the needs of a particular organization. DARWARS training packages are in use at the US Naval Academy, Ft. Lewis Battle Command Training Center, the Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School, US Special Forces schools, and dozens of other locations worldwide, including Iraq and Afghanistan. DARWARS training packages can interact with other training systems through the DARWARS Core — an architecture built upon web services providing an integrating platform coupled with a suite of instructional delivery tools. The DARWARS Core can track trainees, match-up training groups, and provide instructor interaction, as well as define new customized training content. DARWARS training packages combine with the DARWARS Core to enable the DARWARS Enterprise Solution — a cohesive, comprehensive, and continuous training facility. Currently the DARWARS program is working with U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) and the Marines' Program Manager for Training Systems (USMC PM TRASYS) to implement Enterprise Solutions for each. |
