| DARWARS Training Systems are proving their success in over three dozen different installations around the world. For example, initial surveys of DARWARS Ambush! users indicate nearly one hundred percent satisfaction with the training system, with a hundred percent of trainees agreeing that the system was useful for preparation for real missions, and suggesting that soldiers should spend an average of ten days a year training with the system for convoy missions. Another Training System, DARWARS Tactical Language Trainer won the prestigious 2005 DARPATECH Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement. User authoring allows subject matter experts and instructors, and even trainees, to create content that shares their experiences with other DARWARS users. This capability connects real-world events to training while building a community of users who are actively participating in making the training experience more timely and relevant. For example, Ft. Lewis, WA is home to Stryker Brigade Combat Teams, elements of which have already deployed to Iraq, and others which are soon to deploy. With the help of the local Mission Support Training Facility, action reports from Iraq are being turned into new DARWARS Ambush! training scenarios on a continuous basis. Soldiers preparing to deploy are getting a chance to try real tactics, and to train for the events that other soldiers in the unit are already experiencing. The result is a fundamental transformation in how experience is turned into training, and how soldiers prepare for deployment. | |
